The seriousness and rigour I demonstrated at Télécom Physique Strasbourg enabled me to apply for a double degree at another engineering school. As the only student admitted, I had the privilege of studying at the best engineering school in the Institut Mines-Télécom. Also a member of the Institut Polytechnique de Paris, this engineering school is the ideal place to hone my software engineering skills, get back to learning mathematics and deepen my study of data science and AI while enjoying a variety of extra-curricular activities.
My first year at Télécom Physique Strasbourg was the spark that ignited my passion for computer science in general. I was (and still am) keen to learn everything there is to know about IT. In partnership with the University of Strasbourg, my second year of study allowed me to focus on my favourite part of computer science, an area that is both intellectually stimulating and topical: data science and AI. Thanks to the high-quality resources and facilities, as well as the wide variety of courses on offer at Télécom Physique Strasbourg, I was able to start specialising my professional career while broadening my general knowledge of engineering.
I learnt a lot in the two years I spent studying for my selection to engineering school. I studied mathematics, physics and computer science. I also discovered new ways of working more efficiently and managing my time.
I started my scientific education in my local highschool where I learned all the basics of mathematics, physics and biology. Being eager to improve my scientific and english skills I attended optional physics classes in english and introductory courses in aeronautics. In 2019, I graduated with distinction.
I developed a web-based dashboard application to streamline data analysis for quality monitoring and automate reporting for pharmaceutical product manufacturing.
I contributed to research work on Learned Image Compression (LIC) by applying a frugal AI technique known as knowledge distillation to state of the art LIC models in order to achieve real time compression on resource constrained platforms.
I created a REST API for a web application based on Dataiku Data Science Studio. I was responsible for ensuring the product met ISO-9001 quality standards and complied with security regulations enforced in the military context.
During this semester group project we experimented with self-supervised deep learning techniques applied to hand gesture recognition. Trained on GPU with high-fidelity motion capture data, our model was able to perform classification. An in-depth explainability analysis showed that our model is able to recognise gesture accurately.
As part of the training program, I participated in a long-term engineering project to develop an AI-powered Android application to improve road maintenance. Thanks to teamwork, we have succeeded in collecting a sufficient amount of high quality data to train an AI model.
For six weeks, I cooperated with a team of researchers to develop an online platform of services for building energy simulation. In particular, I worked on the conversion of files containing building geometric and thermodynamic data following the IFC standard. I developped automatic and manual tests in Python in order to ensure correct file conversion and precise simulation. The development context required reverse engineering and code understanding skills.
Quick trainings give me the ability to use and teach other students how to use various tools at my school's Fablab.
Having followed introductory classes in aeronautics I obtained the aeronautical entry certificate with distinction which gave me the chance to perform two flights at the aerodrome of Uzès
